Fishing Reports- Lake Michigan & Pere Marquette River -Ludington Michigan

Thursday, January, 11, 2001

The Pere Marquette River is ice covered and resting in preperation of the spring season. Pere Marquette Lake is ice covered and we are catching Northerns on tip-up with smelt and shiners. Wind tip-ups are doing well on the lake. Time to get the”Ludington Bammer’s”, out for some serious Steelhead action. It’s kind of like tip-up fishing only with a spinning rod, using spawn or wigglers and fished about 6″ off of bottom. Catching Steelhead on a Bammer in shallow water is one of the thrill’s of fishing that we all dream about. Its a great way to spend time on the ice with your buddies. Spearing is just starting on Hamlin Lake for Northern’s. They are taking Northerns on Lincoln Lake on tip-ups with smelt. Good Fishin Capt Ed
